Great find!
Settlers Cabin ParkFriendly dogs, no wet areas even after heavy rains, pavilion with picnic tables, plenty of dog bags and people who pick up poop, and people bathrooms! This was a great off leash dog park find, but may be a little confusing to get to you. Make sure to put in directions to the dog park and not just to the park itself in Google maps.
Gone Downhill Over The Years
Harris Family Dog ParkThis is my home dog park. I’ve been coming here since they opened.
The park itself is great. It’s nice to have a place that isn’t split into large and small pups as some times they like to play together. The 2 other area parks are divided, so if you’re looking for that, the option is nearby. The park does get very muddy. Not horrible if you have boots and plenty of towels.
What is an issue, is not knowing what of that mud is really mud. The pet-etiquette has gotten horrible over the years. Some folks just don’t pick up. They are immersed in conversation and aren’t watching their dogs, are on the phone, or get this IN THEIR CARS! Last trip I picked up 15, yes 15 poops. It’s averaged about 10 the last several times. It’s just gotten so bad.
Another note is the altercations between dogs has gone up. There’s been a bite requiring stitches with one dog put down, and other activities that are aggressive and tolerated by the owners. Dogs will be dogs? I get your at your own risk, but I wouldn’t just let my kid go beat on your kid. Just break it up if it seems one way. That’s it, just be a considerate owner. A little roughhousing is fine, but read both dog’s body language and step in when appropriate.
Most folks are great, but sometimes a few spoil the bunch. Please all, set a good example and share good etiquette practices.
I’m hoping I get to bump this back to a 5-bone park, where it used to and should be,
