My partner and I have two dogs - a Shih Tzu who I’ve helped carry up many mountains in Colorado and a crazy mixed breed dog we found living in the forests of Mexico. Together we’ve travelled from North Dakota to Arizona, from New York to Mexico. We enjoy camping, hiking and getting outdoors together.

All Open for Dogs
Aransas National Wildlife RefugeI’m spending three months volunteering at Aransas and I was thrilled to learn that dogs are allowed on all the trails, roads and building(s). This is a nice change from most National Parks where dogs are excluded.
The only things to watch out for are snakes and alligators. If you keep your dog on a leash and a good eye open, it’s no problem.
