Wonderful late night spot
Triangle Char & BarThe Triangle was very convenient to our hotel down the street. After a day vacationing in Charleston it was good for a late night supper with our dog. Good selection, several different tables, mulched area for our dog to relax on (after laying on sidewalk cafes all week), and good service. Surprisingly it wasn’t noisy from the traffic. Make sure to try the sweet sticks - sweet potato fries seasoned with (I think) sugar and cinnamon, with apple butter for dipping. Oh my, like eating dessert for dinner.
Convenient
Sleep Inn Hanes MallStayed here one night Oct 2018 on our way home from vacation. Convenient to the major highways. Good breakfast. Clean and comfortable room. Easy access to grassy dog walking areas. Staff was very helpful finding a dinner place. Get the room with one king bed -it provides more space for a large dog than the two- bed rooms, and it has an extra chair. Bathrooms in Sleep Inn are all very small - that’s the big down side.
Lovely vacation spot
Boone Hall Plantation & GardensWe spent the good part of a day here. My husband did the house tour while I toured the gardens with me dog. (My husband was a bit disappointed in the House tour) I found lots of things to do with my dog - the slave house tours and I could bring my dog into the slave houses, the Gulla theater, the gardens, the Butterfly Cafe for lunch, and nice walks under the live oaks. Plenty of photo ops. My husband did the butterfly exhibit himself. We were very pleased that we went and our dog was so welcome. Each “tour” was short enough that we could trade off our dog walking while one of us went inside. It was a lovely day.
Nice shady park
White Point GardenLovely spot to find some shade after a walking tour South of Broad. Stayed for the sunset. Nice photo ops.
Nice dog friendly beach
Folly BeachBeach was fine for walking with our dog. Disappointed that dogs are not allowed on the pier.
Not bad, a bit small
Sleep Inn Charleston - West AshleyThis was a clean and convenient hotel for our 2018 Charleston vacation. Room was near the door for walking our collie, and you can’t beat the price. Don’t get the room with two beds - it makes it very cramped for two humans and a large dog. The king size bed provides more breathing room and an extra chair. Dog walking area in the back was very limited - not much space for a large dog to stretch his legs.
Woof Gang Bakery
King StreetBe sure to visit the local dog bakery in the middle of King Street. Excellent selection of special iced dog cookies and bagged treats from Woof Gang. Good advice on places to go with your dog too. Very friendly staff.
Good food
East Bay Deli - West AshleyWe stopped here on vacation for a late supper with our dog. Very good sandwiches and delicious dessert cakes. Plenty of room to spread out at the outdoor tables. And very friendly people in the parking lot! Very good service
Excellent food
Tabbuli GrillStopped here for lunch on vacation. Tapas and gyros were excellent. Service was good - our dog got an ice water bowl right away. Music was too loud. Shade was most welcome on a very hot day. Very friendly place - we made friends with people at three other tables and stayed longer than we planned to! Plenty of room for our dog to spread out.
Best dog friendly restaurant in Charleston
39 Rue de Jean39 Rue de Jean was a must-see vacation spot for me after looking for outdoor cafes that allow dogs. I loved this place! The ambiance was so Parisian. It was very convenient to the visitor’s center garage. Tucked in an alley with a shady roof, it was a perfect place on a hot day for a cool lunch. The quiche and croissant sandwiches were excellent. The staff was so friendly, and the social media manager even took photos of our dog. I would go back anytime,
Very nice little bistro
Dandelion BistroWe like this neighborhood bistro for the varied menu, very friendly service, and terrific bakery selections. We have tried the outdoor seating once with our dog. There was limited shade out there and it was pretty hot. But we struck up conversations with two other tables and had a lovely time. Don’t go on a hot and humid day!
Surprisingly good casual food
The Promenade GrilleOn a very busy weekend, we could not get an outdoor seat at the Tidewater with our dog, so we drove down to the Promenade. It just looked like a burger joint in the parking lot, but it was surprisingly good and a varied menu. There is plenty of outdoor seating under the patio roof for us and our dog with a bit of a water view. It is right at the entrance to the town’s Promenade walk on the water, but dogs are not allowed on the Promenade (only service dogs). Bummer!
Great tapas restaurant
CaciqueCacique has a terrific tapas menu. The outdoor seating area is very small on the sidewalk of this downtown restaurant. But excellent service, friendly wait staff, and dog water bowls. Our waiter was from Texas A&M and shared stories of Reveille their collie mascot (we have a collie). Very fun conversation. Outdoor space is cramped and a bit noisy with the main street traffic. But it was such a fun visit, and the food is excellent.
Lunch after the C&O Canal
Desert Rose CafeWilliamsport is one of my favorite places to start on a dog walk on the C&O Canal. It’s a shady and flat stretch of the Canal that is fun and easy for my dog to walk. It’s also very picturesque, with canal boats, old equipment, and a visitor center. After a walk, it’s nice to find a place for a drink. Desert Rose is perfect. Very good sandwiches and excellent service. There are a few outdoor tables on the sidewalk but honestly it was so noisy from the through traffic that is was hard for us to relax. May be nicer to pack some carry out to take down to the Canal.
Lovely creamery in the center of town
Island CreameryBerlin is a great little town for a day trip or mini vacation. After lunch at one of many outdoor cafes we stopped at Island Creamery with our dog. Plenty of outdoor seating and lots of good ice cream flavors. Can’t take. Your dog inside but dogs are very welcome at the outdoor seating. Fun place and very friendly
Best ice cream in central Maryland
Hoffman's Ice Cream & DeliWe stop in Hoffman’s often with our dog. It’s a deli and ice cream place, but we usually just get a drink and ice cream. They have some of the best flavors in MD. There aren’t many shady places to sit with your dog - a bit of grass around the parking lot and a wall at the front of the lot. Well worth stopping for a great sundae.
Dog friendly creamery
South Mountain CreameryMaryland has a creamery driving tour that we use on summer day trips. South Mountain is a working dairy farm with very good ice cream. There are a few tables under a patio roof where you can share ice cream with your dog. It’s a bit crowded and you need two humans, one to go in and order. Limited flavors were all very good. You can also visit the cows in the back, which was a fascinating experience for our dog!
Fabulous creamery
Rocky Point CreameryWe have visited many creameries in Maryland and Rocky Point is one of the very best. Lots of picnic tables outside. My dog could smell the ice cream when we drove up (he loves ice cream). They have a special doggy sundae made from a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream and a medium large Milk Bone cookie. Our dog loved it! Dogs can’t go inside to order! One of us went in while the other waited outside. Lovely sunflower fields are in bloom in the fall. Right down the street from the train station.
Wonderful place to relax by the Creek
OpaOpa has wonderful relaxing outdoor tables by the Creek. The spot is shady and cordoned off from pedestrians so it is great for dogs to spread out. They brought us an ice water bowl for our dog. Service is courteous and non intrusive; some may say it is too slow on busy days, but we didn’t mind the relaxed pace. Gyros and appetizers are terrific. After a hot summer walk from Baker Field, it was good to find a shady spot for lunch. Highly recommend.
Dog friendly fast food
Sonic Drive-InWhether sitting at their outdoor tables, in our car at a car-hop spot, or parking in the back lot, Sonic is an easy fast food place to bring our dog. And he always loves getting burger bits and ice cream licks!
Great find
Mahogany GrillWe spent a week in the Ithaca area and didn't expect to find such a nice place with dog-friendly seating. Had lunch here. They brought a water bowl for our dog and seated us at the end of the outdoor cafe so we had some room to spread out. Terrific food and service. A bit too sunny at lunchtime on a hot summer day. A nice break from fast food and college delis.
Good place for a quick meal
Panera BreadWe go to Panera several times a month. Always easy to get an outdoor shady table while one of us goes inside to order. A bit noisy from the parking lot, but always dog admirers walking by.
Wonderful harbor side restaurant
The Boathouse CantonLots of outdoor seating for dogs. A bit crowded at lunchtime on a nice day, so we chose a shady table that was not next to another dog. Excellent menu, service, food. Beautiful view and nice breeze. Casual elegance.
Fun place with picnic tables for dog lovers
Collegetown BagelsWe ate here several times while vacationing in the Ithaca area. Never a problem finding seating in the summer. Good variety of fresh sandwiches and desserts. We brought our own dog water bottle. Some tables are shady.
Nice place after a walk
Touche Touchet Bakery and Pastry ShoppeNice place to stop for a drink, coffee, and pastry/dessert after a walk on the wooded trail along Shaker Drive. The bakery has limited hours and seating, so it's good to check ahead. Excellent desserts!
One of the best creameries in Maryland
Jarrettsville Creamery and DeliThis place just has a few tables in front by the parking lot. Not scenic, but very convenient after seeing the sunflowers over the summer. Sandwiches were fresh and good. But the ice cream is fantastic! One of the best, most creamy ice creams in Maryland. Our dog loved it too!
Fun friendly place for lunch!
Fins Ale House & Raw BarWe had a lot of fun here! Plenty of tables for dogs out front. Plenty of water bowls round and about. Service was great and very friendly. Everyone was in a festive mood and our dog loved meeting people. Very good food - large variety. Right across the street from a good ice cream shop too.
Lovely waterside garden setting
Tidewater GrilleWe have taken our collie here twice. Lovely outdoor seating in a garden-like setting on the water. Some tables have umbrellas, some are sunny. Excellent food. Leisurely lunch. Plenty of room for our dog to spread out. Casual elegance.
Excellent service
Isabella'sWe had lunch here with our collie. We chose the end table so our dog could spread out and not disturb other diners. Our waiter was fabulous! He is a collie lover and was so friendly to our dog and us. He brought out a large water bowl and checked on our dog regularly. Several people walking by stopped to admire our collie over the fence. It definitely can get noisy in the middle of town so don't bring a dog who can get spooked by sirens. Excellent variety of tapas, quick and friendly service. We will be back.
Popular outdoor cafe
Brewer’s Alley Restaurant & BreweryWe've been here twice with our dog. Central location for walking the town and the canal. Great food. The outdoor seating is a bit crowded but accommodating.
Great location and service
Schaefer's Canal HouseWe just discovered Chesapeake City, and Schaefer's was the best! We walked part of the C&D Canal with our dog, then came to Schaefer's for a leisurely lunch. We met a friend and her dog, and the staff was terrific for our two big dogs - they seated us under the roof patio area so it was shady all day and they brought a large bowl of ice water for the dogs. They seated us on the other end of the patio away from two other dogs - very considerate. We were right on the canal so it was scenic, breezy, very roomy, and fun. The food was excellent - good selections. No rush, friendly service. We'll return for sure.
Excellent service, amenities, location
La Quinta by Wyndham Raleigh CaryWe stay here once a year when our collie rescue group has its annual reunion. It's a terrific hotel - no pet fee, we are always on the first floor, there is a large area for dog walking next to the hotel, very friendly and helpful staff at the front desk, lots of places to eat and carryout in the immediate area. Comfortable and clean. Our reunion always has lots of dogs there and there has never been a problem and it is not noisy.
Our Go-To Dog Friendly Restaurant
Leelynn's Dinning Room & LoungeWe love LeeLynn's. Plenty of outdoor seating on the patios. They always bring a large bowl of ice water for our dog and the waiters often remember the dogs' names. We have done a dinner with 8 people and their dogs and there was no problem at all. Very good food. Most outdoor tables are shady. A bit noisy from route 108, but it doesn't bother our dog. We often bring a blanket for our dog to cozy up on. Best in the area.
Favorite salad restaurant
Nalley FreshI love this place for their great variety of salads. Just a few tables outside, but rarely fully occupied. A bit noisy from the parking lot. Shady for the dogs.
Dog friendly tables in the back
La Madeleine Country French CafeWe can usually get a table in the back patio, but most of them are sunny, so not a good place on a hot summer day. When not crowded, you can get a shady table. Quiet back there. Always accommodating.
