Sweet and comfortable
Purple Sage MotelSo much nicer than I expected! Easy check-in late at night. The room was clean and smelled nice, decent coffee in the morning, and it felt homey. There were baby goats in a pasture behind the property, some nice chickens and cats hanging around, lots of plants in the front office. It felt very private and comfortable, and cost less than the chain hotels with much more charm and character.
So spacious!!
La Quinta by Wyndham Big SpringWe booked the cheapest room just to take a break from driving, and for less than $150 INCLUDING pet fee we got a king suite!! Dog was doing zoomies around the room, it was great. We slept through breakfast because the bed was so comfortable, but they had decent coffee out at all hours. Everyone at the desk was super friendly and sweet. I would definitely stay here again!
Dirty and gross
Motel 6 Austin TX - MidtownOur non-smoking room reeked of cigarettes and there was poop on the toilet seat. It is directly on the highway and people walked past our door all night, so the dog couldn’t settle and no one got good sleep.
Breakfast was INCREDIBLE
2439 FairfieldCharming B&B full of antiques in a beautiful neighborhood of live oaks and old mansions. They truly welcome pets (and children!) rather than just tolerating them, because you are free to leave your dog unattended if they are well behaved.
And this was breakfast: Coffee and tea and cereal obvs, fresh-squeezed orange and grapefruit juice, scrambled eggs, sautéed mushrooms, bacon/ham/sausages, hash brown casserole, English muffins with 3 different homemade preserves, banana bread, AND 3 different kinds of homemade fried pies. This was served in the style of high tea, on nice porcelain with silver dessert forks and monogrammed cloth napkins. And so tasty that 2h later we are in the car still talking about the perfectly spiced pear preserves!
